Why Trillium Learning Center?
In short it is TLC - women in pregnancy and families embarking on their journey to parenthood need lots of TLC. We provide support through education and compassion.
Three words - three letters. Symbolizing maiden, mother crone; the threesome of two parents and a child or an expectant woman, her support person, and a baby; pregnancy, birth, postpartum. Three stages of labor. Trillium Learning Center is also a reference to the trillium - a native Western North Carolina flower linking our space to the herbal support available at TLC.
Owner and Educator
Kelly Brown is a certified DONA birth and postpartum doula, Lamaze certified childbirth educator and Evidence Based Birth® Instructor. She is mom to three amazing kiddos and the wife of a firefighter. Kelly's career in childbirth began with the birth of her first daughter - exploring all the ways women can birth. This education opened up a world of possibility for Kelly and she began sharing what she had learned about labor and birth with friends. Planning on becoming a midwife it was discovering the deep connections a doula can have with a family that changed her course. Kelly brings passion and understanding to her classes and clients and walks alongside them no matter how they desire to birth their baby and transition to parenthood.
